Ahead of performing at their successful Kings Theatre pantomime Scottish theatrical stars brought Christmas to patients at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children at Yorkhill when they switched on the fairy lights dressing the hospital’s 20ft Christmas tree.
Attending the grand switch-on were the stars of Aladdin at the Kings Theatre including Gerard Kelly who plays Wishee Washee, Karen Dunbar (Widow Twankey), Keith Jack (Aladdin), Gavin Mitchell (Abanazar), and Frances Mayli McCann (Princess Jasmine).
The tree has been donated by Glasgow City Council and for the third year in a row the garlands of lights have been presented by lighting retailer Pagazzi Lighting.
Shona Cardle, Chief Executive of Yorkhill Children’s Foundation thanked Glasgow City Council, Pagazzi Lighting and the stars of Aladdin for their contribution to what has become a Christmas tradition at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children.
She added: “We are so grateful to the stars of Aladdin for taking time out of their busy performance schedule to come up to Yorkhill to switch on our Christmas tree lights.
“Everyone at the hospital looks forward to this occasion and we would like to sincerely thank all involved for making Christmas special for so many sick children.”
Alan Pagan, Chairman of Pagazzi Lighting said: “Pagazzi Lighting are delighted to be asked to get involved with Yorkhill again. It is an honour to be given the opportunity to light up the tree for the children this Christmas.”
