Inverclyde Council and NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde have announced that they have jointly appointed Rab Murphy as the Corporate Director Designate of the new Inverclyde Community Health and Care Partnership (CHCP).
Mr Murphy is currently acting Director of Social Care at the Council – he was previously Head of Social Work.
The joint appointment was made on 10 December by an interview panel of senior members and officers of the Council and NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.
John Mundell, Chief Executive of Inverclyde Council said:
I am delighted that we have been able to appoint Rab to this exciting and challenging new post. He has worked in Inverclyde for many years, has extensive experience in social work and a positive track record of developing effective joint working with colleagues in health.
This appointment is the next step in the establishment of the new CHCP and we believe that Rab has the knowledge, experience and personality to lead the development of the new organisation.
Robert Calderwood, Chief Executive of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, said:
I am pleased that we have appointed Rab to be the Corporate Director Designate of the new Inverclyde Community Health and Care Partnership:
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Health and Inverclyde Council are fully committed to making the CHCP a success – we wish Rab well in his new role and look forward to working with him in the future.
Mr Murphy will take up his new post fully on 31 March 2009 when the CHCP will be formally established – in the interim he will be working closely with colleagues from social care and health to finalise the new structure for the CHCP.
