Update on Clostridium Difficile (C Diff) Cases at Royal Alexandra Hospital

September 05, 2008 4:18 PM

One of the five patients with C-diff in a ward in the RAH has been discharged.

The remaining four patients are no longer showing any symptoms of C-diff but continue to be nursed in isolation.

The ward continues, as a precaution, to be closed to new admissions.

The Outbreak Control Team has met again today to continue their investigations into the higher than expected number of C-diff cases at the ward.

In total, eight patients have been affected, one of whom has sadly died with C-diff being a contributory factor in their death.

All appropriate infection control measures are in place.
