Three wards remain temporarily closed at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley, and four wards at the Victoria Infirmary have also temporarily suspended admissions.
Each hospital is being closely monitored. Ward staff and infection control teams have put additional measures in place to limit the spread of this particular infection.
It must be stressed however that all NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde hospitals continue to admit patients in other areas, including emergencies.
Tom Walsh, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s Infection Control Manager, said: “We continue to monitor this fluctuating situation closely and are doing all that we can to prevent the further spread of the virus.”
To further help our efforts to alleviate the current situation we are therefore restricting the number of patient visitors to two per visit in certain wards at the Victoria Infirmary.
We are also reminding visitors of the importance of hand hygiene when entering and leaving hospital premises and ask anyone who has experienced any symptoms of diarrhoea or vomiting within the last forty-eight hours not to visit the hospital.
