Assault on GP at Clydebank Health Centre

November 30, 2007 4:04 PM

Strathclyde Police have arrested a 45-year-old man in connection with an alleged assault on a GP at around 3.30pm yesterday afternoon at Clydebank Heath Centre.
The GP was taken to the Western Infirmary in Glasgow following the alleged attack. He was discharged later that evening and is now recovering at home.
Tom Divers, Chief Executive of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, said: “I am deeply shocked and very concerned about this assault on one of our GPs. It is totally unacceptable that health professionals, who are committed to helping others, are assaulted while carrying out their day-to-day work.”
“This is an extremely serious matter and the circumstances surrounding the incident are being fully investigated. We are doing everything possible to support the other staff at the Health Centre.”
