Experts attending a major conference on drug treatment are being offered the opportunity to visit some of Glasgow's drug projects

Experts from around the world are in Glasgow to attend the 2006 National Drug Treatment Conference, being held in the Radisson SAS, and the Glasgow Addictions Partnership is keen to show what Glasgow has to offer to local people with a drug addiction.

Staff from the Glasgow Addictions Partnership will also be speaking at the conference, which will be discussing a wide range of issues around treatment and prevention, sharing best practice and looking at the latest research.

Over 650 delegates from around the world are attending the conference with speakers from Australia and the USA.

Neil Hunter, Addiction Partnership Manager, is one of the speakers at the conference and is keen that drug treatment projects in Glasgow are seen as being amongst the best in the world.

He said:""Events like this conference are particularly important at a time when drug use is high on the agenda due to a number of recent high profile incidents. It brings together experts and gives the opportunity to share best practice from around the world.

"We have invited delegates to visit some of our local projects and services highlighting what Glasgow is doing to address the major problem of drug addiction."
