Four wards at the Victoria Infirmary are not admitting new patients due to incidences of diarrhoea and vomiting.
Twelve patients are currently showing symptoms, but none is giving cause for concern as a direct result of viral gastroenteritis.
It is routine procedure for wards not to admit new patients as a precautionary measure when three or more people display symptoms of diarrhoea and vomiting.
Dr Syed Ahmed, Consultant in Public Health Medicine with NHS Greater Glasgow, said: "Strict infection control measures are in place to limit the spread of the illness and we are working closely with hospital staff to monitor the situation".
A further update will be issued tomorrow.ENDS
