The wards at the Victoria Infirmary – that were closed to new admissions last week due to diarrhoea and vomiting – are now open.

Dr Syed Ahmed, Consultant in Public Health Medicine, NHS Greater Glasgow, said:  "We are pleased that the Victoria Infirmary is now back to full capacity as a result of extra infection control precautions being put in place."

The Consultant in Public Health added that wards routinely do not admit new patients as a precautionary measure when three or more patients display symptoms of diarrhoea and vomiting.
