STAFF of NHS Greater Glasgow are on the lookout for tuneful troops to take part in the annual Hospitals' Carol Concert in aid of cancer charity, Sargent Care for Children.

The festive event takes place on Friday, December 12, 2003 in Glasgow's Royal Concert Hall at 7.30pm.

The charity, which was founded in 1970 in memory of conductor, Malcolm Sargent, has raised more than £500,000 since the first concert was held in Glasgow.

In 2003 alone, Malcolm Sargent House in Prestwick has sponsored 223 holidays for the families of children with cancer.

Through events such as the hospitals' concert, Sargent Care for Children has also funded many different services across Scotland in order to help youngsters affected by the condition.

These have included putting a Social Work Team in place at Yorkhill Hospital, providing a Young Persons' Worker and a Youth Development Officer at the Western Infirmary.

Anyone who would like more information about the choir should contact either Ken on 0141 334 7773, or Alison on 0141 339 2973.  The rehearsals will begin on Sunday afternoons towards the end of October.

Public support is vital, so anyone wishing tickets for the event (priced £14 for adults and £7 for children) should contact the Royal Concert Hall on 0141 353 8000.
