Figures published today on waiting times showed a slight increase in July compared with the June figures but steady progress will continue in the next quarter.  This is not unexpected at this time of the year and NHS Greater Glasgow are still on track for the December 2003 target.

The figures also include national and regional acute specialties for patients from other health board areas in such disciplines as head and spinal injuries, cancer, heart and stroke, and paediatric.

Greater Glasgow NHS Board said today "This continued significant and steady progress will continue during the next quarter and NHS Greater Glasgow is confident it will deliver on the national target of no patient with a guarantee waiting more than 9 months by December 2003."

Greater Glasgow NHS Board stressed that 84% of patients are seen within 3 months and 92% are seen within 6 months.
