Be there forever
For Remember A Charity Week (11th-17th Sept) we wanted to show the importance of leaving a will and how you can leave your mark on the world. With more than 1 in 3 people affected by cancer in the west of Scotland, your gift could have a deep lasting effect on future generations.
Scotland’s primary cancer centre
The Beatson is one of the busiest cancer centres in the UK. Every year, we deliver cutting-edge treatments and innovative, complementary therapies to 8,000 new patients. We know that every battle with cancer is different – and that every patient is a person who needs the very best support and treatment. We understand, too, that the whole family goes through cancer, which is why our unique Wellbeing Centre is a haven for mums, dads, daughters, sons and grandchildren.
Here is Stuart’s story and why he will be forever grateful of the generous legacies left by our supporters.
The importance of gifts in wills
The gifts that kind people leave us in their Wills are critical to our work. In fact, in 2015 a third of the donations that Beatson Cancer Charity received were made in this way. As more people survive cancer, however, the demands on The Beatson will only grow. Without more clinical nurse specialists, more state-of-the-art equipment, more calming therapies, we simply won’t be able to provide the world-class care that so many people depend on.
By leaving a gift in your Will to Beatson Cancer Charity, you can be there for so many patients and their families as they battle cancer in the years ahead.
Here are just some ways gift could support cancer patients in years to come
- £250 – could pay for 10 hours of Clinical Nurse Specialist’s time, and bring expert, loving care to people when they need it most.
- £1,500 – could help fund a research Radiographer who could provide expert technical support to The Beatson’s world-renowned research team.
- £3,000 could pay for 250 hours of complementary therapies in the Beatson Cancer Charity Wellbeing Centre – helping patients relax and manage their pain
