Web Content & Development Policy

The Policy has been approved as part of the Information Governance & Information Technology Framework. View or download a copy from this link.

In summary

  • requests for web developments for services and facilities within NHSGGC must come through the Corporate Communications Web Team
  • the Scottish Government requires NHSGGC to ensure web-based information is provided through a single portal - no additional external web developments should be undertaken
  • The Content Management System (CMS) we use (Umbraco7) allows departments to manage their own content day or night, from any computer able to access the internet. Through the CMS, information is provided in a consistent and easy to navigate structure using pre-designed templates. Setting up and running your site won't cost anything, plus we provide free in-house training and support for editors.

The website provides service information in a directory format, so users coming to the NHSGGC website can find service information quickly. If you feel this doesn't meet your needs, then we can create a microsite.

If you have a look around the website, you'll get a better understanding of what's possible. If you require additional functionality, then we can provide this at cost. If you detail your requirements in a brief, we can assess what work needs to be done and what the costs will be.

Web authors must note that under no circumstances should additional functionality be created, modifications made to the CMS, additional style sheets created or alterations made to existing style sheets without the express written agreement of the web team. No support is given to unauthorised modifications and they will be removed. The document library must not be used to store scripts of any kind and using it this way will be regarded as a breach of NHSGGC IT security policy.
