Modern Apprentice Practitoner Clinical Technologist - Medical Equipment Management

What are you recruiting for?

We are recruiting for Modern Apprentice Practitioner Clinical Technologists to join our Medical Equipment Management Team.

Medical Physics Clinical technologists are experts on medical equipment this means they work closely with clinical staff to diagnose medical equipment problems, to advise on medical equipment purchases and staff training. In this role you will be based within either the Royal Hospital for Children or Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in one of our equipment servicing laboratories.

Working with medical equipment is a very varied discipline and we get to see all the new and innovative equipment from the healthcare environment.  We get to see how technology can be used to treat, diagnose and monitor patients.   Things change all the time and these changes result in a better care experience for our patients meaning that procedures are less invasive, results can be obtained more quickly and some patients can now be cared for in the home where previously the only option was hospitalisation.

You won’t be based solely within a servicing lab as a significant proportion of the work takes place within clinical areas e.g. operating theatres, clinics, endoscopy, renal dialysis etc. This is mainly because these can be bulky items or equipment fixed in their location so you should expect to spend some of your time working in other areas of the hospital and can include going into our operating theatres during procedures.

Following a period of training you will work with a team of Medical Physics Technologists who are experts on medical equipment.
