Adult Eating Disorders

The Glasgow and Clyde Adult Eating Disorder Service (AEDS) is utilising a tiered approach to care delivery as recommended in the NHS QIS document (Eating Disorders in Scotland 2006). We do not yet have a website but we are working to establish this currently.

The model is that patients’ with an eating disorder should be referred to the appropriate Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) in the first instance. Any access to the Adult Eating Disorder Service will be through them.

In this service framework, patients presenting with an eating disorder will first be referred to their appropriate CMHT. This enables care and medical responsibility to be held in the community. A representative from the CMHT will liaise with the service to discuss a referral. The Adult Eating Disorder Service will then arrange assessment and possible intervention as appropriate. This work will compliment that done by the CMHT. Where appropriate AEDS will join the CMHT for a joint initial assessment.

If you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact the service.     Sandra Reilly Team Secretary GG&C Adult Eating Disorder Service Florence Street Resource Centre 26 Florence Street Glasgow  G5 0YX   0141 232 7055
