Mental Health Tribunal for Scotland

The Mental Health Tribunal for Scotland (MHTS) was created in October 2005 as a result of the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003.  The MHTS aims to provide a responsive, accessible, independent and impartial service when making decisions on the compulsory care and treatment of people with mental health problems.

The website contains information on the work of the MHTS and has a useful frequently asked questions (FAQ) section to help people involved in compulsory care proceedings such as hearings.
