Support Groups

Community Support Network (CSN)

CSN groups are local community Chest, Heart and Stroke groups run mainly by volunteers. They provide a relaxed and friendly environment where members enjoy a range of activities. The groups offer a valuable opportunity to meet other people who are in a similar situation. Most clubs organise occasional outings and events. Members can enjoy a club aimed specifically at their needs in a mutually supportive environment.

Volunteer Stroke Service (VSS)

VSS weekly stroke groups provide a regular meeting place for people with communication problems following stroke. A home-visiting service is also available. In rural areas, people without communication problems are accepted into the service.
A structured programme of relevant communication based activities, supported by Speech and Language Therapist trainers, provides encouragement, motivation and an opportunity to practise communication skills in a supportive environment.
