Electrocardiogram (ECG)

An electrocardiogram is a simple recording of the heart to see how it is working.  The nurse or technician will put sticky patches (electrodes) on your arms and chest, so that a heart tracing (ECG) can be made on paper to show how your heart is working.  The test is quick and painless and is important for spotting any irregular heartbeats, such as it beating too fast.
