All patients attending the Glasgow & Clyde Weight Management Service have access to psychological interventions to help them lose weight.
Not everyone will see a psychologist as the Weight Management Program uses behavioural approaches throughout to aid weight management.
Patients who have psychological issues related to their eating and weight such as anxiety, depression, body image issues or low self-esteem can access additional support.
Patients who may benefit from additional support, will be invited to attend a brief psychological assessment to determine what would be beneficial.
Some patients need additional support before they can begin the Weight Management Programme. If so, they will be offered a Priority Psychology Assessment. This ensures we are offering the best treatment possible.
