Canniesburn 50th Anniversary

The Canniesburn 50th Anniversary will take place on:

Friday 22 September until Sunday 24 September 2017.

We are looking forward to welcoming back to Glasgow everyone who has had some affiliation, however brief, with our unit.

The scientific meeting will be held in The Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Glasgow.

I’m sure many of you will remember the flap course dinners and various versions and discussion of the portraits hanging around the hall.

The lecture theatre at The College is well appointed, with all facilities including an induction loop for those of us admitting to not getting younger.

Accommodation is available at Blythswood Square Hotel, conveniently just across the Square from the back of The College.

If you are making a reservation, please tell them you are booking in association with the “Canniesburn 50” meeting in order to access the special package we have negotiating.

Contact details for the hotel are: Blythswood Square, 11 Blythswood Square, Glasgow. G2 4AD

Tel: +44 (0) 141 248 8888 Fax: +44 (0) 141 221 3132

We already have the first expressions of interest noted. It would be really helpful for us in planning, if you could sign up or register your interest in attending (not binding, of course), or sign up for the meeting in the box at the bottom of this page.

If you already have, please encourage anyone else you are in touch with to do the same.

We plan to have an opportunity for golfers to get the meeting underway on the Friday morning with a round at one of our special local courses.

The scientific meeting will then run Friday lunchtime to Saturday evening.

There will be a reception at the Blythswood Hotel on Friday evening so everyone can catch up, and a dinner on the Saturday evening, at The Grand Central Hotel.

On Sunday morning, we plan to be a little self-indulgent with a session on the history of Canniesburn, and an opportunity for anyone who wishes to share any specific Canniesburn memories with everyone.

Details of the scientific sessions and a call for abstracts will follow shortly, please keep an eye on the twitter feed and the web page for more updates.

Please either or register interest below so we can keep you updated personally, or ideally, sign up for the meeting.
