S4 - This normally involves a 5-day period within department providing the opportunity to observe and sometimes participate under supervision in the normal work of the area. Each secondary school will utilise its own processes to identify suitable work placements for pupils. Evidence of meeting the relevant criteria will be required through the submission of an application form
- Secondary School - S 4, S 5 & S 6 School Pupils
S5 & S6 – Work experience placements are also available to S5 and S6 pupils who have a keen interest, high motivation and are preparing to pursue a career in the Health Service. Evidence of meeting the relevant criteria will be required through the submission of an application form. These placements can vary from one to five days depending on the capacity of the service to support the student.

Get Into Healthcare - Training and Work Experience programme for young people
If you or someone you know is interested in a career in Healthcare, is aged between 16 and 25 years and not in education, employment or training this programme, delivered in partnership with the Prince's Trust, may be of interest. You will receive training in some of the important things you need to know about when working in a hospital environment (infection control, moving and handling, falls prevention, confidentiality etc), but you need to come to us with some basic skills and attributes. Patience, empathy and a caring disposition as well as the ability to work as part of a team are all essential for this role. For young people aged between 16 and 24 with a Learning Disability and/or Autisim we are one of an number of employers who offer a tailored programme - Project SEARCH. NHS GGC is planning a new intake of the Project Search initiative in August/September 2016.
NHS GGC is just one of the employers involved in the project and other placement opportunities will be available. This is a partnership initiative and NHSGGC works alongside Glasgow City Council, Glasgow based colleges and other employers.
