The purpose of the eHealth Directorate is to plan, procure, develop and deliver services in the following areas:
IT Infrastructure including desktop, mobile devices, servers and networks to provide staff access to information systems
Software applications that provide appropriate functionality to support staff in their work and to ensure that patient information is appropriately and securely available where and when it is needed
Health Records and associated patient administrative processes
Management and Clinical Reporting to enable information and decision support to be derived from the data that we hold, and
Knowledge Management and Library Services
Telecommunications devices and services
In recent years the focus of the Directorate has been to rationalise the range of systems across the Board through consolidation around a number of 'cornerstone products'.
It is well recognised that whilst much has been achieved in relation to the above developments, the challenges that we face in the current work plan is to better exploit these systems and utilising our assets to the full. This will be achieved through listening to clinicians, prioritising their development requirements and working closely with suppliers to ensure that such developments are delivered. We have been extremely encouraged by the response to recent surveys that were intended to ascertain a better user perspective on our plans and will be continuing to engage more widely on a number of issues in the coming months.
