iMatter and National Staff Survey

iMatter

iMatter is the NHS Scotland Staff Engagement continuous improvement process being rolled out nationally across all Boards in Scotland.

It forms a key part of the Healthy Organisation Culture element of the National 2020 Workforce Vision: Everyone Matters. All Directorates in every Board are part of a rollout schedule to complete their first iMatter cycle by end 2017.

After the first cycle, the process repeats annually. The process is based on a staff engagement questionnaire which all staff are asked to respond to, which then generates a Team Report containing the results from each group of staff who report to each Line Manager. The Line Manager shares the report with the team and they meet to discuss and agree staff engagement improvement actions that are specific for them for the months ahead. This improvement plan is captured on a team 'Storyboard' which the team then uses to monitor progress prior to the next iMatter run.

iMatter has now been implemented in all NHS GGC directorates and Health and Social Care Partnerships (HSCPs), with some areas having already completed anniversary runs.

iMatter Online Academy

Furthermore, we have now launched the iMatter Online Academy within NHSGGC.

The iMatter Development Academy offers a wide range of guided learning to help managers:

  • Better understand their iMatter Team Report and then plan for the discussion with their team.

  • Think through the skills required to get the most benefit from the iMatter process.

  • Consider the wider leadership skills that enable better staff engagement.

Self-directed online learning pathways offer an opportunity to access areas of specific interest and develop wider knowledge and thinking suited to individual needs and style at times that work for the individual.

Click here to access the login page.

You will have 24hrs to explore the iMatter Development Academy with a temporary password. If you find that online learning suits you and you would like continued access to the site for 12 months this can easily be set up for you. Please contact Lisa Donnelly to sort out your own password.
