The Parental Leave Policy enables employees with children, who meet the qualifying criteria (12 months continuous service with one or more NHS employers) to be able to balance their work and family commitments and spend quality time with their children.
Eligible employees will be entitled to a maximum of 18 weeks Parental Leave per child (4 weeks of which will be paid). The 4 weeks paid Parental Leave must be taken in the period up to the child's 14th Birthday. The unpaid element can be taken up to their 18th Birthday (this is a recent employment legislation change and supersedes the information currently in the Parental Leave Policy).
Employees who wish to apply for this leave should complete the parental leave application form and submit to their manager, along with the appropriate evidence, for approval.
