Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM)

Level 3 Award in Leadership and Management

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is an accredited centre of the Institute for Leadership and Management (ILM), a premier professional body supporting national frameworks with almost 100 years experience in the field of leadership and management in the UK and overseas.

The current Level 3 programme is delivered over five days covering the following topics with associated assessments:

Induction to the Programme, Communication, Organising & Delegating, Problem Solving & Decision Making, Organisations & Change and a Tutorial Session

This programme is at Scottish Credit Qualifications Framework (SCQF) Level 6 which is the equivalent to a Higher National Certificate (HNC). Delegates must therefore be prepared for appropriate level of study to achieve this award.

Delegates must complete four assessments:

  • one work based assignment –delegates to identify a workplace problem which they or their team face and examine ways to resolve it. The word count for this assessment is between 1000 to 2000 words.
  • three short answer assessments – these assessments are linked to the course material and delegates are asked to provide short answers reflecting on the course material and how it relates to the workplace.

Delegates must have discussed and agreed with their line manager that this programme meets with development needs identified at the PDPReview meeting.
