Course overview:

To increase knowledge and understanding of Blood Borne Viruses

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the session delegates will have:
o Explored prevalence of BBVs within Scotland
o Identified transmission routes and explore the issues relating to testing for BBVs (this includes how to test)
o Increased their knowledge regarding referral pathways for testing, treatment and support
o Explored prevention/ risk reduction measures for these clients
o Have an awareness of the NHS GG&C HIV Anti-Stigma Campaign
o Gained an understanding of the GG&C policy on management of Occupational/ Non-Occupational exposure to BBVs including PEP/ PEPSE

Who should attend:
This session is a basic starter or refresher aimed at participants who wish to increase their knowledge of Blood Borne Viruses including current diagnosis and treatment pathways.
Level of prior knowledge – Little or None
