After your baby is born

Your post-natal care in hospital will be delivered by midwives on site.  The midwives are there to offer support and to educate and advise you in caring for yourself and your baby.

Once you are discharged home your local midwives will continue to offer care in your own home.

Also, midwives will support you in your choice of infant feeding.:

  • evidence shows that breast feeding is best for baby and is therefore actively encouraged by the midwives at the CMU.
  • midwives are available to offer support at the Unit, at home and at the breastfeeding workshop in the community.
