West Glasgow Minor Injuries Unit

The Minor Injuries Unit (MIU) at the hospital treats adults and children aged five and over for a range of minor injuries such as cuts (including ones that need stitches), broken bones, sprains and minor burns.

The unit is open seven days a week, between 9am and 9pm all year round. Outwith these times, you should attend the nearest A&E.

To find our which A&E you should use, use our helpful A&E postcode finder.

The MIU is run by highly experienced Emergency Nurse Practitioners who will assess and either treat a minor injury or, if they find a more serious problem, arrange for you to be transferred elsewhere.

They do not provide treatment for gynaecological or pregnancy problems, alcohol or drug issues, severe allergic reactions, chest pain, breathing problems or people who have collapsed.

Children under the age of five with a minor injury should be taken to The Royal Hospital for Children, Govan.  The MIU direct telephone number: 0141 201 0290

Please note that the West Glasgow GP Out of Hours Service moved from the Western Infirmary to Gartnavel General Hospital on 10 November 2015. You should not attend the Out of Hours service without first calling NHS24 on 111.
