Abolition of Car Parking Charges
Nicola Sturgeon, the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing, announced on the 2nd September 2008 that car parking charges would be abolished at NHS hospitals across Scotland from 31 December 2008.
The only exception will be car parks at three PFI-built hospital car parks, including Glasgow Royal Infirmary, as the costs of early termination would be prohibitive.
Following the announcement, we will begin planning to implement this revised policy by the end of the year, however charges will remain in force until then.
