Giving patients a voice

We are putting patients and the wider public at the centre of healthcare.

Our commitment to our patients and our community is as an open, accountable and responsive organisation that fosters patient and public involvement.

Getting involved could not be easier.

These pages highlight the importance we place on your actual experiences and how your involvement helps us to improve your health service.

Become a member and have your say on how local services are run and delivered. Help us to make sure it works for you.

Patient stories are recognised as a valuable tool in supporting service improvement for a variety of reasons. For example, a great deal of information can be conveyed in a story that would otherwise be lost in a survey; stories can make sense of complex clinical situations, and they are often well remembered.

Placing the patient, their carer and family right at the centre of all of our care, service delivery and health service decision-making is what the Participation Standard is all about.

We also recognise, value and support the important part our 2000+ volunteers play in the life and work of our hospitals and increasingly in our communities. They are no ordinary people: they are very special individuals of all ages and backgrounds who come from all walks of life, with boundless energy and enthusiasm, to give support and offer help to others.
