Managing Adverse Events

Healthcare Improvement Scotland published a report on NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s management of adverse events on 8 July 2013.

The report recognises many areas of good practice within NHSGGC including our positive incident reporting culture and that staff were clear on their roles and responsibilities in managing adverse events and of the comprehensive support provided by our clinical risk team.   We actively encourage our staff to report any safely incidents through our reporting systems.  This provides us with the opportunity to learn so that we can continue to improve the quality of patient care and keep patients safe.   We will consider thoroughly the recommendations made by HIS to ensure a consistent approach to the reporting and managing of such events across the Board.  We have already identified a number of areas through our own policy review to improve how we engage with patients and families.
