Southern General Hospital

February 2012 Report

An unannounced follow-up inspection to Southern General Hospital was carried out on Tuesday 14 February 2012.

NHSGGC received the Inspector’s report in March 2012 and are pleased that the report acknowledges the improvements we have made since their previous visit.

The report highlights the proactive work undertaken on developing and maintaining new cleaning procedures and the improvements made for reporting and handling of estates issues.

The report also commends the positive impact made by the introduction of regular meetings which involve nursing, clinical, domestic and estates staff.

However, there are still areas we need to improve on and the two requirements made in the report will be addressed immediately.

July 2013 Report

The Healthcare Environment Inspectorate carried out an announced inspection to the Southern General Hospital on Wednesday 15 May and Thursday 16 May 2013.

NHSGGC are pleased that the report acknowledges the improvements we have made since their previous visit.    The report highlights the proactive work undertaken on developing and maintaining new cleaning procedures, particularly to patient equipment, and the improvements made for reporting and handling of estates issues.   The report also highlighted the good relationships between ward staff and domestic staff and this was reflected in comments by patients who were ‘very impressed by the cleanliness in the whole hospital’.   However, there are still areas we need to improve on and the three recommendations made in the report will be addressed immediately.
