This is the second year of these awards and I am delighted and impressed with the enthusiasm shown by patients and their relatives and healthcare professionals in identifying worthy nominees.
There were just over 120 nominations this year – and every single one of them had its own powerful reason for being there.
I am also convinced that for every nomination received there are a hundred others who are going that extra mile to make a special difference to the lives of patients and their families at the time of greatest need.
There are eight category award winners – each represents the ethos of NHS care and dedication. One of those award winners were also presented with the Chairman’s Award of Excellence for their outstanding dedication and commitment to their profession and patients.
I am delighted that Scotland’s Cabinet Secretary for Health, Wellbeing and Cities Strategy has recognised the importance of these awards and has agreed to present them.
During the year as I visit sites throughout NHSGGC, I am struck by the consistency of enthusiasm, commitment and exercise of the highest professional skill by our staff. It is my very great pleasure as Chairman of NHSGGC to mark out a few of the best of them in some small way and I applaud you all.
