November 2017

Inverclyde Royal Hospital - Would just like to say a massive thank you to all the staff on k north who looked after me during my stay this week. Everyone I met: domestics, nursing staff, doctors, porters and students were all absolutely fantastic and went out of their way to make sure I was being properly cared for. They made a longer than hoped for stay in hospital very much more bearable. Thanks again.

Royal Hospital for Children - We took our daughter to A&E yesterday (28/11/2017). I just wanted to say that from the reception staff to the nurses and the doctor who examined her, they were all amazing. My husband and I were so impressed with the service and are both very grateful for the support given. Thank you so much for all your help.

Royal Alexandra Hospital - My mum has Alzheimer's and got admitted through A&E on Sunday night, the care, compassion and medical treatment mum received was absolutely brilliant. I can't thank all the staff from admission to discharge and even arranged community help and alarms, I am overwhelmed with the care she received and cannot thank you all enough.

Victoria Hospital (New) - I went to the New Victoria hospital for day surgery with the ENT dept. I was so impressed, the clinic ran very smoothly. Eight am appointment and I was on my way home at 2pm. The staff could not have been any nicer or more helpful. I was very nervous about the procedure and everyone my nurse, surgeon and anaesthetist took the time to explain things and put me at ease. Makes you realise how lucky we are to have such a fantastic service in our NHS. Thank you so much.

Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow - Very patient friendly hospital. Lots of staff available to direct you, not a lot of waiting around, all staff very efficient and free car park. Fantastic experience.

Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow - We want to thank the paramedics (Owen & colleague) who came to our home, on 21/11/17 at 12:20 and delivered our baby son. Baby and mum are both doing fine. We are very proud parents and very grateful for the help they gave us and their speedy arrival.

Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow - I would just like to thank the doctors, consultants and nurses at the ear and throat department. I was brought in as they thought I might have Quincy which I did. I was seen very promptly and although the procedure was painful my Doctor Chris was brilliant. My stay for 24 hours was so fast and everyone was so spot on. They should be praised for the hard work they do and how professional and caring they are. Best experience I've had when being admitted to a hospital. I hope they are all very proud!

Glasgow Royal Infirmary - I would like to say a huge thank you to Claire Best from the domestic team at GRI for the assistance she offered my grandmother whilst visiting the hospital today. As she has limited mobility, Claire went out her way to find a chair for her and used her own pound coin. This is a small gesture that has truly had an impact on my grandmother! Claire, you're an asset to the NHS!

Glasgow Royal Infirmary - From the paramedics, through A&E and on to the days I spent on the wards the service I received from all staff was excellent. I was worried about my injury and worried about my first ever stay in a hospital but everyone was calm, efficient and extremely hardworking - especially the ward staff. I can't praise them (and the whole NHS) enough.

Inverclyde Royal Hospital - Good Morning. My father was admitted to IRH on Friday 24th November. I would like to thank Staff Nurse Tracey Morrison from Accident & Emergency, the female Dr who looked after him in the department my dad whose name I can’t remember, Staff Nurse Nazareth Gentugao on Stroke ward, K South and the medical team based there. The care that my father and family received from them all was excellent. All staff members were respectful, empathetic, helpful, generous with their time, clear explanations and most important very caring towards a very old vulnerable gentleman his wife and family. They are a true credit to their professions. My father is getting home today and we would like to pass on our gratitude. Kind Regards.

Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow - Both my wife and I were very impressed by the care received at a recent neuro physiology OPD appointment. In particular the receptionist on duty (sorry didn't get the person's name but she was on duty late morning on the 24.11) was friendly and caring. I watched this lady interacting with all who came into the department and would like to highlight the extremely positive and warm attitude she conveys as a real asset to your department. Thank you.

Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow - I would like to commend and thank the Medical team responsible for my recent cancer treatment. Their outstanding skill and care resulted in an excellent outcome. Further, the aftercare by the ward 62 staff was truly first class both highly skilled and caring. No thanks is enough for this dedication. Thanks also to the reception and catering staff and the 'back room' technicians for their contributions to my recovery.

Royal Alexandra Hospital - I have to say. Dermatology department has excelled. Have to do this. Dermatology department have been wonderful. Lovely staff, well caring and so helpful. Credit to RAH. After 15 yrs of skin issues, have never let me down. Well done.

Royal Alexandra Hospital - My son was referred by his GP to the Medical Assessment Unit, RAH on the 24th November. He is suffering from glandular fever and was feeling really unwell. The experience from the receptionist, nurses and medical staff was first class. The ward was spotless well done to all concerned a real credit to the NHS in Scotland

Royal Hospital for Children - I just wanted to send in a message to thank the staff who have seen my daughter throughout this week. She has been referred to children's accident and emergency twice this week by her GP, and the service I received on both occasions was fantastic for myself, my husband and my daughter. In particular the doctors we encountered on both visits, Stuart McKie (I think) and Lucy Drinkwater were absolutely fantastic with my 11 month old baby, and really made her feel safe and comfortable, so much so that by the end of her examinations and treatment she was even blowing them kisses! I just felt strongly that it was important I wrote in to acknowledge my appreciation to the entire team that we came across, from the reception staff to the staff nurses to the doctors. Everyone put us at ease and kept a poorly little baby very calm and happy. Thank you so much you really all deserve a medal!

Victoria Hospital (New) - I would just like to say I was treated extremely well when in for a procedure on the 22nd November at day surgery at the New Victoria. The staff were outstanding from ward staff who were just so lovely and nothing was too much trouble to the theatre staff especially the lovely man who came to collect me and was setting me up for the anaesthetist. People are too quick to complain but never quick enough to give praise when deserved - huge well done to the lovely staff that I had the pleasure of meeting yesterday!

Victoria Hospital (New) - huge well done to the lovely staff that I had the pleasure of meeting yesterday!

Glasgow Dental Hospital and School - My daughter received such good service at the dental hospital. Although the hospital is very busy all of the staff were so kind and attentive. Although her issue was not serious, the work that was done has given her so much confidence. We are so lucky to have access to such a great resource with skilled staff.

Royal Alexandra Hospital - I would like to give recognition to the IBD of the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Paisley. Alan Boal, Seth Squires, Fiona and any other staff members. We value the service and care that they give on a daily basis. Our daughter has been dealing with them for the last 3 years and the care and attention she has received from them in this time has been excellent. Our daughter was struck down with this condition out of the blue and to be so very ill at the age of 18 was such a shock for our family. But with the help of Alan and Seth and all the team we don't know where we would be having been without them. They have supported us as well as our daughter throughout her illness. It's been a 3 year battle so far but things have finally been settling down recently for her. She now has her infusion which appears to be keeping everything under control at the moment. During the last 3 years we have struggled to cope with this illness and the complications that have come with it. My daughter has struggled with things and we as a family have found it hard to cope with but the IBD Team have been amazing. They have been with us all the way and continue to be such a support for us. They have been so patient, caring and understanding when we have been at our lowest ebb and panicking about things. They have taken the time and care to discuss things with us at length and reassure us every step of the way. It is fantastic that we have the direct contact with them too being able to leave a message for them to call us back or an email to keep in touch. The service and support they provide is excellent and we are so grateful for all the hard work and support that they have given us through the years; they have been such a lifeline for us all. We cannot thank them enough for all that they have done for us and we now have Fiona who has joined the team and she is equally as nice and supportive too.

Inverclyde Royal Hospital - My mum was a recent patient in the stroke ward and subsequently in the palliative care ward. I just want to say a huge thanks to the staff in the stroke ward, especially the staff nurses (Lynn, Stuart and Gil) who were outstanding at all that they did for my mum. They showed the perfect balance of professionalism and a genuine caring attitude to my mum and my family. They are lucky you have people like this working in the NHS. They are a credit to your organisation and I hope you can in some way pass this feedback to them. I already said it to them individually. Thanks.

Glasgow Royal Infirmary - I was admitted to GRI on 29/8 as an emergency via my GP to Acute services in A&E. Following which I was admitted under the care of the general surgeons. I underwent emergency bowel surgery and was transferred to the advanced recovery ward following an overnight in ICU. Can I just say that the staff in the advanced recovery ward are by far some of the most caring and kindest people I have ever encountered? They made my stay in hospital at a very anxious time so much more bearable. The level of care that they show to each and every patient was remarkable. I will be getting admitted again and will be under their care and that in itself is making the thought of having to undergo major surgery again less of a worry. I am an NHS employee and have been for a long time and it was a different experience being on the other side of things as a patient the team on advanced recovery under general surgery are such a credit to that service each and every one of them should be so proud of the care they provide. Keep doing what you guys are doing as you make the NHS proud.

Royal Alexandra Hospital - Just want to thank all the staff at RAH and Paisley maternity had an op and was in hospital for 3 days. The care I got was second to none. Ward 32 all staff were so dedicated to their job and made my stay in hospital easier. Third year student on night shift called Bryony was born to be a nurse. Just so caring and made you feel at ease. We have got the best NHS and we need to save it. Once again thank u for your care much appreciated.

Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow - I would like to praise the staff off the Dermatology dept, after I attended an out-patient appointment this morning. Dr Alison Honan and her team , in particular Nurse Jemma Millar, made sure my questions were answered and that I left the department with the necessary information to continue my treatment. I was well looked after and noticed how well the staff work together to ensure the patients needs are met.

Princess Royal Maternity - I would like to praise reception staff on level 2 for arranging all my appointments. Being pregnant with identical twins I was required to attend the hospital every 2 weeks. The reception staff on level 2 were always very kind and helpful in doing so. Thank you for making this journey a little bit easier.

Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow - Good morning, my aunt was brought to your emergency dept last night from her care home. I am my aunt's PoA. I would like to say your emergency dept was fabulous and whilst overrun. The staff and set up was great. I'd like to particularly thank Dr Drew for her sensible approach given my aunt's declining health due to her Alzheimer's and her pragmatic approach with agreement to discharge her back to her nursing home. Thank you very much.

Royal Alexandra Hospital - I would like you to pass on my thanks and appreciation to the RAH stroke service. I attended an appointment today for a review by the stroke team 1 week following an overnight stay in MAU. The consultant Dr Boyce and Dr Jackie( apologies not sure of her surname) were very reassuring, professional, courteous and thorough in their manner towards me as a very nervous patient. My scans were promptly performed by the radiology team and the staff in that department were also very reassuring and informative. I left feeling very relieved and grateful to the doctors, radiology and nursing staff in this service and will not be as anxious when I return for my next appointment.

Royal Alexandra Hospital - 3 weeks ago my wife was admitted to the Surgical Acute Receiving Unit, having been blue-lighted down from Lochgilphead where we had been on holiday from Northumberland, with what turned out to be pneumonia and sepsis coming from an inflamed gall-bladder - she was very poorly. After 3 days she was transferred to Ward 27, where she remained for the rest of her 8 day stay. We cannot speak too highly of the care that she received throughout - all aspects of it. The staff were kindness itself, friendly, patient and understanding. The medical care was skilled, painstaking and thorough. Cleanliness (infection control) was outstanding. The food was excellent, and not only was parking manageable and affordable! but the discharge arrangements were first class and worked very smoothly. It was an exemplary demonstration of the NHS at its best, and we are extraordinarily grateful to all concerned.

Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow - Whilst attending A&E at QEUH in the early hours of this morning 11/11/17 with my daughter, we were very fortunate to be under the care of a young doctor called Antony Kinsey. I cannot sing this young man’s praises enough, he was extremely helpful and patient. His manner and professionalism second to none - Thank you.

Glasgow South, Smoking - I just want to say that I was one of the first people to attend the stop smoking classes in the Victoria hospital, where it was the first time we could be given champix as part of our stop smoking therapy. I have no idea who to contact etc , but I’d just like to say that I have NOT smoked in the 6 years since I joined this first group, it would be great just to know that whoever put this together could know how great full I am.

Glasgow Dental Hospital - I was admitted to the Glasgow Dental Hospital and School today and I would just like it to be noted that the staff were fantastic. I was treated with an extraordinary amount of empathy and care which was above and beyond what I would expect from my usual dentist. The students were knowledgeable and attentive, while the supervisor stepped in as my problem turned out to be more complex. She was exceptionally caring, taking my hand when I got emotional and even walked me to the front desk to check I was ok. I think praise for healthcare professionals is rare enough, but with staff as fantastic as this it is more than warranted in this case.

Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow - I had an operation on Wednesday 8th February to remove a lymphoma and was under the care of Dr Buchanan and your surgery and aftercare team. Everything was explained in great detail by Dr Buchanan, the anaesthetist and your nursing staff. I have no doubt that I could not have been looked after better, anywhere, at any cost. Thank you to Dr Buchanan and your surgery and aftercare team at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital so much!!!

Inverclyde Royal Hospital - My mum was admitted through A&E on 11/9/17. She spent the following 2 weeks as a patient in Ward H South. From the minute she arrived on ward, nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Nurse Jamie was brilliant with her on admission and made her feel at ease(mum was very embarrassed by her symptoms) as did every other member of staff on that ward. I have never seen such caring and compassionate medical staff in this hospital before (Maybe just bad luck on my part) and they deserve huge praise for the work they do. Please please make sure everyone who works on that ward are aware that we as a family can't thank them enough.

Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow - My family and I would like to thank everyone who was involved in our mothers care. From being in A&E on two separate occasions to ward ward 6B (room 95). The junior doctors at A&E where brilliant along with the professor. All levels of staff on ward 6B were fantastic with our mother and treated her with dignity. The specialist who took the time to answer my questions and put our family's mind at ease, could not have been more approachable and respectful to both my mother and myself .The auxiliary's and nursing staff, both male and female who showed so much respect when she was embarrassed using the bed pan, ensuring her that, "that's what they get paid for and keeps them in a job and not a problem" making her feel at ease in a embarrassing situation. There was a lady who came round later on at night with the tea trolley, auxiliary I think, who really went the extra mile. She would put butter on a digestive, rather than leave it plain, once she realised that's how our mother liked it, it made the world of difference. Knowing that someone really did care enough to find that information out. To All STAFF on ward 6B on behalf of my family and mother THANKYOU.

Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow - Really lovely team running the dermatology clinic - super efficient consultant appointment followed by a no-fuss, cheery medical team doing the procedure. Only slight downside - parking really needs to be sorted out!

Glasgow Royal Infirmary - I was admitted to the burns unit in February 2017. I was extremely pleased with every aspect of the care I was given: from when the ambulance arrived at my home until I was discharged, and continuing with the burns aftercare and scar clinics. I was made to feel very comfortable after a distressing experience, and received treatment which has been of the highest standard. I would like to highly praise every member of staff that I had contact with - thank you.

Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow - Attended dermatology as an outpatient in QEUH for a removal and biopsy of an existing mole. My initial consultation was with Dr Wylie who explained the procedure thoroughly and with compassion, this was followed up by the procedure itself a short few weeks later. On arrival I was anxious about the procedure, but the members of staff who were doing the procedure (Dr Wray and SN Dowson) were empathic of my feelings and reassured me throughout. This procedure lasted about 20 mins. Everything was fully explained to me, the environment was calming and the removal of my mole was pain free and done with such professionalism! I was given the appropriate information of aftercare I should consider while my skin was healing. Thanks dermatology department for delivering first class patient care.

Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow - I would like to thank all the staff & doctors on ward 2a who all do a wonderful job I was a patient in this ward for 18 days and I could not fault them everyone was very pleasant & made my stay as comfortable as possible thank you all for doing a great job.
Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow - just want to say how fantastic the team is at dermatology. Just had a mole removed at the back of my leg and both Dr V Wray and S Dawson were fantastic. A massive thanks to you both for making a scary thing so relaxing thanks again.

Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow - I would like to convey my appreciation of all the staff who dealt with me on my admission in A&E, and on the ward I was admitted to on Saturday 4/11/17. All of the above were excellent, I know I should not but I wish to name 4 individuals in particular. The Ukrainian doctor that examined me in A&E she was brilliant. A gentleman by the name of Patrick his dedication to his job was unbelievable. The sister who came on late duty in A&E was 100% professional and more. The staff on the ward I arrived at about 8:00-8:30pm were fantastic. A young doctor from Hollywood Co. Down kept me 100% informed on all my treatment which I appreciated. The staff at the X-ray department were the same as the staff on the ward. Everything is so well coordinated at your hospital, other hospitals could learn from the Queen Elizabeth. Yours sincerely The dart throwers may keep practising. The staff will appreciate this comment. Can you let the staff see this correspondence please.

Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow - Arrived 30 minutes early and was seen immediately, examined, diagnosed, treatment received and out within 5 minutes. Excellent service!
Stobhill Hospital (New) - I was in this hospital on the 1st of November 2017 for vascular surgery, and stayed in overnight. I would like to thank all the staff. Surgeon especially, but a thanks to the team in the day care - night unit. The day shift staff and night time staff, very professional and polite, and could not have done More For you, From chatting to you, tea coffee etc and professionalism, staff like them should be recognized for their hard professional work, and rewarded in some way of praise for this.

Victoria Hospital (New) - I had to stay in the New Vic for one night following a colonoscopy. I just wanted to let you know that, without exception, the staff were amazing. Kind and reassuring and extremely professional. If it hadn't been for the procedure (!!), my entire visit would have been a pleasure. The care I received from the staff in the endoscopy unit and the staff on Ward 3 was exemplary. Thank you all.

Stobhill Hospital (New) - I attended Stobhill minor injuries department today with my 5 year old daughter and could not fault it. All staff were helpful, professional and kindly in manner. We waited about 20 minutes, possibly less to be seen. A great service, much appreciated

Royal Hospital for Children - My daughter recently was admitted to ward 2c for 10 nights I am really pleased with the staff on this ward they work very hard and made my daughters stay in hospital very comfortable they are so pleasant and hard working. The rooms were great I had a fold away bed which meant I could stay with my daughter in hospital as she is very anxious. There was also a play worker that was great with the smaller children the cleaners worked very hard there was also vegan options too which really helped the staff where just great can't fault this hospital .

Stobhill Hospital (New) - Good Afternoon I was a day surgery patient on Tues 31st October at Stobhill Hospital. Can you please extend my thanks to all your team that were on duty today. Their team uphold the NHS and everything it represents to the enth degree. They should be so proud their team spirit was fantastic. I was treated so well from arriving to leaving and kept informed of everything that was happening to me from start to finish. Kind regards

Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow - I would like to thank and praise the staff at A and E. I got taken straight away, had an X-ray of my foot and local anaesthetic in my foot to numb the pain within a short time of being there. I had an accident whilst doing gardening. The staff managed to save the tips of my toes and my toes have healed well. They would never have thought that I had an accident! Superb service. Nursing staff were great and very friendly! Thanks again

Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow - I really appreciate the speed of care and thoroughness and professionalism that I have received through Dr Grant Wylie and his team. I have been very impressed and thankful.

Stobhill Hospital (New) - Despite all the negative rubbish in the media I think there is a fantastic improvement in health care in Scotland. My appointments over the past eighteen months have always been on time. The staff have been wonderful, I have always been checked in, seen by the appropriate person and back on the road in under forty five minutes on every visit
