December 2017

Glasgow Royal Infirmary - Ward 63 GRI - I have recently been in an inpatient in ward 63 following major surgery under the general surgery team. I would like to say a massive thank you to all the staff on that ward that cared for me during my 3 week stay. I had a difficult time during those 3 weeks but the care and support received by all members of staff that I encountered was second to none. All the staff showed compassion and cares to all patients on that ward not just me and in my mind are credits to the NHS. This is my second admission since August and it is so nice to experience such care and compassion from all members of staff. Even after discharge they still offered support when I needed dressings for my wounds. Keep doing what you all do best guys you are a credit to the NHS.

Royal Alexandra Hospital - I was recently admitted to Ward 10 in the RAH. I'm a nurse but have never been in hospital. I must admit I was significantly apprehensive. These fears were completely put to rest by the staff who I found to be warm and extremely professional, and despite my physical issues put my mind at ease and made the entire experience less uncomfortable. I cannot express the gratitude I feel for the staff in ward 10. Both the nursing and healthcare assistant staff and the medics too. I am a nurse myself and I feel compelled to praise the staff that made me feel better as well as making me feel well. Kindest Personal regards.

Royal Alexandra Hospital - Hi there, just wanted to drop a note to recognise and say thank you to all who looked after me and my newborn son when I was at the maternity unit for a planned C-section on the 21st December. The care and service that we received was absolutely outstanding! Thank you to all who looked after us prior to, during and after surgery and for making this such a positive experience. A truly treasured memory!

The Children’s Hospital Glasgow - I would like to thank all the staff in the Plaster Room at the Children’s Hospital Glasgow. My son Ted was put in a plaster cast for 3 weeks however after having the cast for just 1 day the cast was moving and had to be re-done. I (his mother) suffer from extreme anxiety and was very upset and the staffs in the Plaster Room were so nice and friendly. When I had to make another visit a few weeks later to have Ted's cast removed, again, they were so nice. I can’t thank them enough for the care that they provided not just to my son but for me also. I would like this message to be given to them as a team and I hope that someone can pass on my thanks.

Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow - I would like to thank theatre staff and everyone from ward 10a at the QEUH for my excellent care. Everyone was very kind, friendly and helpful.

Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow - I can't speak too highly of the care I received from the staff in this excellent hospital. From pre-op assessment through surgery and four days recovery on the ward, I was treated with care, respect, skill and courtesy so that I felt confident that I was in safe, caring hands throughout. With my own room with en suite toilet and shower, complete privacy and visitors free to stay at all times, I enjoyed a happy and relaxed stay in pleasant surroundings. I can see that staffing is a problem and it's to the credit of the nurses and all other staff that they provide such a high standard of care under the circumstances. Thank you to everyone I met there.

Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow - Attended A & E on the evening of the 19/12/2017. It was explained by the nice lady at reception that there was a five hour waiting time. Just wanted to say thank you to all of the staff in attendance that night. They were rushed off their feet and yet always managed a smile when calling people by their name to be attended. I was dealt with in such a kindly manner and I cannot praise each and every member of staff highly enough. They must have been exhausted but still managed a smile and reassuring measure of comfort to all they attended. Thank you so much and I wish you all a very Happy Christmas and all the very best of health for 2018.

Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow - I had to visit the A&E yesterday and would like to let you know how happy I was with the service. From start to finish I was a maximum of 2 and a half hours that included an x-ray - the staff were all very professional and courteous. I would like to thank everyone very much for their help.

Stobhill Hospital (New) - Have so much praise for all at Stobhill, Just have to say thank you so much Gayle, you help big time.

Royal Alexandra Hospital - Following a serious road traffic accident in the early hours of Sunday 17.12.17. The four of us received absolutely excellent and professional treatment from the paramedics who attended and outstanding treatment over a period of hours from the A&E staff at RAH for which we shall be forever grateful. Well done.

Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow - Spent some time in ward 9C after getting my gallbladder out and has to say the care was amazing. Nothing was a bother to them they made a scary experience much better. Great team.

Victoria Hospital (New) - I had a planned admission post op to ward 3 on 13/12/2017 where I received superlative care from all members of the team. Staff were kind, considerate, gave me information and advice when required In conjunction with high technical skills. It’s great to see inpatient care work so well. A particular thanks to Janice charge nurse.

Victoria Hospital ( New ) - Attended as outpatient I was blown away with over all service 5 star no waiting areas very clean this Hospital Is as good as private care Well done.

Gartnavel, ward 1C - In this season of “Good Will”, and so it is with great gratitude that I write to thank the staff of the entire Eye Department who so caringly and attentively, have for many years, looked after my lone Mum throughout her medical experiences in the Gartnaval Eye unit. My mother’s immediate family members do not live in close proximity to her and consistently she is often dependent on the kindness of others. When my mum became an admission as an in -patient to ward 1C in November 2017, I was able to witness this first hand and see for myself just how wonderfully everyone treats her. I am filled with comfort and appreciation. I sincerely thank Dr Anijeet who with her blessed hands and brain, expertly performed this eye surgery, to Dr Ramamurti for all the attentive follow ups and shared knowledge and to Dr Willians for all his expertise, patience and clarity in explaining things to me in great detail. I also would like to thank Dr Hammer for visiting at this stressful time and offering his time and kind support. ALL the staff on the ward were exemplary. In particular, I thank Nurse Agnes Macleod for her sincerity, love, patience and great care of my Mum. She went way above the call of her duties and instilled a great sense of comfort, confidence and understanding to us. Nurse Macleod, in my humble opinion, is a practical, sensible soul who is most undoubtedly working in her correct professional calling. All the team in the eye department instilled confidence and showed compassion to us for which I am most very grateful.Wishing you all a very happy 2017-18 Holiday Season, filled with Peace and Joy. You all so very much deserve it!! Thank you.

Princess Royal Maternity - I had my baby in PRM recently and I could not be happier with the hospital and the doctors, nurses, midwives. It was a great experience to feel secure and looked after, supported when I needed help. Thank you for maintaining such a great hospital!!!

Royal Alexandra Hospital - I had to attend A&E with a partially ruptured tendon in my big toe. From my first visit I was very impressed with the speed in which I went through the system from A&E assessment through to x-ray and orthopaedic consultation. I had a deadline of going on holiday within 4 weeks of attending and so was put on to the trauma liaison team. They were absolutely fabulous and an ultrasound scan was arranged at New Victoria Hospital within a week and a follow up consultation appointment a week after that. At every stage of the process all staff communicated quickly and effectively and I cannot praise the service I received enough. Thank you so much for your care and attention. It is very much appreciated.

Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow - Thank you to the staff (nursing staff and Dr. B.C.) on Ward 52 in the Langland’s Building for caring for my Mum during the process of reaching a diagnosis, keeping me well-informed and putting my mind at rest.

Gartnavel General - I recently paid a visit to the out of hours GP service in Gartnavel General. Seeing as it was a Friday night and one of the other locations had closed, it was extremely busy. There were only two members of staff on, a nurse and a doctor. Despite working in such stressful situations, I was treated well. Both members of staff that I talked to were kind, respectful and helpful. I was given paracetamol for my high temperature, and a prescription of antibiotics to take home. The whole experience was far better than I had expected.

Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow - Very happy with all the treatment my husband received and the wonderful nursing care he received after he was admitted. Many thanks to all those involved.

Royal Hospital for Children - Ultra fast experience all way through lovely staff despite it turning out we did not need to be there especially lovely radiographer demonstrating use of pool table in x-ray.

Glasgow Royal Infirmary - I have been under the care of Mr Carter and his team for the last 10 weeks, treating me for Pancreatic cancer. I was operated on Monday 4 Dec 2017, a Whipple procedure. I was then moved from theatre, to High Dependency, to Enhanced Recovery and I am currently at home, to return to clinic on Friday 15 Dec. I am in awe of the skill and care afforded me by Mr Carter and his surgical team. They are quite simply magnificent. I owe my life to them. However, what sets them apart is the human element they bring to a very serious situation, always supportive and helpful and their post op care and concern for their patients sets them apart. They are wonderful people. In High Dependency the staff are totally awesome. When one is linked to so many units and has so many lines and tubes maintaining one’s survival; when you are helpless and vulnerable these people give you so much support and strength that it is difficult to quantify. They do all this willingly, with enormous skill, fantastic humour and positivity. They are a credit to their profession and to the NHS. We are so, so fortunate to have such fine people working for us on a daily basis. They are inspirational. I vow to carry out my future life trying to emulate their example. The world would be a much better place should everyone get to witness their humanity and professionalism at work. They were all first class but I must make special mention of Elaine, who truly is an angel. I then was moved to the Enhanced Recovery area, where again the staff were absolutely astounding. From the moment they delicious Claire admitted me, to the moment I left, I felt like the most cared for person on the planet. I actually asked May, (smashing woman), if I was getting preferential treatment, such was the quality of this team’s care. I could go on, and on, and on about how lucky I was to be cared for by these magnificent people. The UK has an NHS that should be admired and protected at all costs. Our NHS is magnificent. It is the staff who populate our NHS that make the difference. They should be applauded and supported in equal measure. I cannot name check each one of you as I would wish for fear of omitting someone, but I will always remember you and what you did for me, and my family, in my hour of need. They are forever in my heart and thoughts. You, the staff, are quite simply amazing. Thank you, so, so much.

Victoria Hospital (New) - Arrived today 12/12/17 for a ( TRUS) biopsy at the New Victoria, the staff nurse in the unit made me so relaxed as I was a bit anxious. The specialist Nurse who was to carry out the procedure was so engaging with the patient and explained everything and answered all questions asked of her, unfortunately my BP would not go to a safe level to continue my op. I hope my comment helps anyone attending this department in the future. Well done all.

Princess Royal Maternity - I was admitted to Princess Royal Maternity on an emergency basis. I had been an elective caesarean however my baby decided to come early. I cannot speak highly enough of the staff from point of admission to discharge. I was extremely well cared for, listened to and put at ease despite the anxiety around my labour. Aftercare and follow up has also been of a high standard. Thank you.

Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow - I wish to complement the staff in the CDU and Immediate Action Unit, who were on duty during the day shift on Monday 11 December 2017, for the first class care and highest professionalism, from the lady receptionist to the Charge Nurse in the CDU, no words can express the feeling of gratitude I have towards this team, who treated me with compassion, understanding and did very thing to allay my fears. Please pass on my inadequate thanks and for what it's worth, after seeing such and experiencing the superb care, I will always defend the NHS and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Thank you for the wonderful care.

Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow - I moved from Aberdeen to Glasgow and was given a quick appointment as an out-patient at QEUH. It was early so we got parked easily. I was helped to sign in and shown which way to go. The doctor and nurse were friendly, helpful and efficient. My prescription was ready in twenty minutes and I was on my way within one hour of arriving.

Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow - My mum was recently a patient in ward 52 Langland’s in the QEUH Glasgow for a number of weeks, and I would like to say her care was fantastic. The nursing staff, auxiliaries were amazing, and although they were extremely busy in a ward which was challenging they looked after my mum with compassion, care and sensitivity. They also supported myself and my family and kept us up to date with all her care. I can’t praise them enough. Also the consultant Dr Steven Wishart was fantastic, and very understanding. I would like to thank each and every staff member.

Royal Alexandra Hospital - I would like to acknowledge the service I have received from the maternity unit at the RAH over the course of the last 2 years. I had a very positive birth in the CMU followed by 2 miscarriages in the next 12months. The staff in the early pregnancy unit helped me deal with these losses and allowed me to receive blood tests to try and find the cause of these. This led to a diagnosis of an autoimmune disorder which was treatable and I them became pregnant again. Following the miscarriages pregnancy was never going to be an easy time for me but the midwives in the early pregnancy unit were so reassuring and made it clear I could call them if I was feeling anxious and offered extra scans which really helped me cope with my fear of losing the baby. I had a consultant led pregnancy with regular scans and appointments and couldn't fault any of the support I was given. When it came to giving birth I was in the labour ward where I had a wonderful midwife who helped me stay calm and deliver my baby safely in the manner I had hoped I would be able to. Despite the labour ward being busy I felt well looked after and I feel the jobs these midwives do are often unrewarded or taken for granted but I just wanted to take the time to report my very positive experience within the maternity unit at the RAH as the support I received from the staff has led to me having my healthy baby girl which I will always be grateful for. Thank you to all the staff.

Stobhill Hospital (New) - Minor injuries at Stobhill hospital. Staff were kind & compassionate. Radiology staff very helpful and nursing staff showed skill and knowledge and also so caring.

Glasgow South - As an NHS member of staff myself, I am delighted to be able to share such a positive journey in these times of high criticism for our NHS. From my first antenatal appointment at 9 weeks pregnant in the New Victoria Hospital, through labour at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and a short post-natal admission to the Mother and Baby Unit at Leverndale Hospital until today at my daughter's 4 month Health Visitor review, I have encountered fantastic staff providing excellent services. Each and every midwife, health visitor, nurse and doctor has shown a level of kindness, respect and support that deserves to be commended - I only wish I could name names! It is their excellent team working and timely intervention that have allowed me to be at home, safe and well with my partner and our daughter, loving every minute of parenthood. I cannot thank maternity services enough.

Royal Alexandra Hospital - I had to attend A&E today 7/12/17 and cannot praise all the staff highly enough. I was frightened, anxious and in pain when I arrived at reception. The department was obviously busy but everyone treated me with dignity and care. I was triaged quickly, made to feel at ease and looked after so well. Thanks so much!

Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow - My consultant explained everything that was going to be carried out during my consultation and was also very clear about the outcome of examination. I felt very comfortable and understood everything that I was advised of. Both reception staff and consultant made me feel at ease in a professional and friendly manner.

Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow - I attended the day ward today at gynaecology for a procedure I was very anxious about and the staff could not have been more helpful, welcoming and non-judgmental. This was no surprise as I was also admitted earlier in the year and the service was exceptional then, too. The nurses were more than happy to answer my questions and gave me plenty of information and kept me in the loop. The auxiliary nurse on duty took an interest in what I was reading and made time to have a conversation with me. Even the receptionist was lovely. I just wanted to leave some positive feedback to say that the staff on ward 49 especially do an outstanding job.

Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow - I had a fall in a local store and cut my head. I was very apprehensive about going to A&E with press stories about waiting times. I was seen fairly quickly and had the cut ‘sorted’ by a very pleasant and efficient young doctor. Feeling much better now thank you all.

Glasgow Royal Infirmary - Thank you to the fantastic medical staff at Glasgow Royal Infirmary's A&E department. I was impressed by the speed at which I was seen and the excellent treatment I received. For such busy people, all the nurses and doctors who attended me were incredibly kind. I would particularly like to thanks Doctor Laura McKechnie for taking such good care of me. She was efficient, professional and very reassuring; helping me through what was a very difficult day.

Princess Royal Maternity - I had an extremely positive experience when I attended the Princess Royal Maternity Hospital to deliver my baby in the summer of 2017. Each member of staff I came in to contact with was friendly and approachable. As a first time mother, I was nervous about the delivery and being an inpatient, but every member of the team at every level, was professional and dedicated to the patient. I can't thank the staff enough and would have no hesitation in recommending the PRM.

Glasgow Royal Infirmary - Treatment has been first-class from start to finish can't praise all staff enough.
Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow - Arrived early for my 11:30am appointment scanned in proceeded to Dermatology Level 2 Dealt with politely and efficiently with receptionist asked to take a seat a couple of minutes later the Consultant came and asked me to come into the consultant room The whole process was professional and stress free.

Royal Alexandra Hospital - I just want to say thank you to the nurses and doctors, and the ambulance crew, for all the care they took of me during a painful angina attack ,service was as usual excellent, and much appreciated.
