The men and women who have saved the lives of tens of thousands of Scotland’s sickest babies were named the overall winners at the Daily Record’s glittering Our Heroes Awards.
Consultant neonatologist Jonathan Coutts and his team at Glasgow’s Royal Hospital for Sick Children were honoured for their work treating 157,000 of the most seriously ill and premature babies every year.
At the ninth Our Heroes awards on Friday, a room of celebrities, winners and nominees honoured Jonathan and his team with a standing ovation.
Jonathan said: “It is a great privilege to win this incredible award but this is very much for the whole team who work with us. It has been such a humbling experience to win the top accolade but I want to pay tribute to the other nominees.
"We are just doing our job. So many of the others ¬selflessly volunteer their personal time to give so much to their communities, so we are honoured to be included with them tonight.”
