IF you live in the catchment area for the Vale of Leven Hospital, New Stobhill Hospital or New Victoria Hospital, you can attend your local Minor Injury Unit (MIU) to get urgent care for a minor injury including sprains, burns and simple fractures. MIUs are run by highly experienced Emergency Nurse Practitioners who will assess and either treat a minor injury or, if they find a more serious problem, arrange for you to be transferred elsewhere.
Children with serious illnesses and injuries who are less than one year of age should be taken to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Yorkhill, Glasgow. Children from one year on should either go to your local A&E department or to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children.
You can find out more about which conditions may be seen and treated more quickly elsewhere from our Know who to turn to pages.
