Visual Perception is the way in which we interpret and process visual information. Visual perception can be broken into four interlinking components:
- Physical Functions i.e. physical skills required to take in the information.
- Visual Attention i.e. ability to focus on visual stimuli.
- The Cognitive Component i.e. the ability to mentally interpret and process the visual information.
- Visual Motor Function i.e. the ability to coordinate visual input with motor output.
Under each of these sub headings there are various factors and specific items that an Occupational Therapist will assess. The areas in which it has been identified that your child has difficulty in are explained and discussed in more detail.
