Find out if you can use the free Evening Visitor's bus serviceThe Western Infirmary on Dumbarton Road in Glasgow's West End houses most of the acute emergency and receiving functions serving the west of the city - accident and emergency, intensive care, orthopaedic trauma, emergency surgery, acute medicine and acute stroke. In addition, the hospital provides elective gastrointestinal, breast and cardiothoracic surgery. Medical specialties include cardiology (coronary care, invasive and non-invasive cardiac investigation, and angioplasty), general medicine, and renal medicine (including renal transplantation).
The Western Infirmary site is also home to the outpatient West Glasgow maternity care centre

IF you live in the catchment area for the Vale of Leven Hospital, New Stobhill Hospital or New Victoria Hospital, you can attend your local Minor Injury Unit (MIU) to get urgent care for a minor injury including sprains, burns and simple fractures.
MIUs are run by highly experienced Emergency Nurse Practitioners who will assess and either treat a minor injury or, if they find a more serious problem, arrange for you to be transferred elsewhere.
Children with serious illnesses and injuries who are less than one year of age should be taken to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Yorkhill, Glasgow. Children from one year on should either go to your local A&E department or to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children.
