The Public Health Nurse Consultant, based in the Public Health Resource Unit, has a remit for providing leadership and support for nurses working in health improvement throughout Glasgow and Clyde NHS Board area. The post strengthens and informs Knowledge Management and the Learning and Development functions of the PHRU. The four pillars that support public health nursing encompass:
Education, Training and Development; Working with the Learning and Development function of the PHRU to strengthen and develop innovative approaches to learning delivered in collaboration with local universities.
Professional Leadership and Consultancy; Provides leadership for nurses working in Public Health and supports nurse leaders across the system in developing public health capacity. In addition the Consultant provides expert advice, information and policy analysis on Public Health Nursing.
Practice, Service Development, Research and Evaluation; Demonstrated through collaboration in research and service development projects with nursing colleagues across the service and in supporting nurses in identifying and developing research topics and building capacity to develop skills and competencies in theses key areas.
Expert Practice; The expert practice function of the post has a focus on child public health. The Consultant is part of the Child Public Health Network. Demonstrating leadership for practice development to address inequalities in health.
