In January 2006, the then Minister for Health gave his support to establish the West of Scotland Regional Cardiothoracic service at the Golden Jubilee National Hospital, Clydebank.  This meant  the transfer of lung surgery from Lanarkshire and heart and lung surgery, including the national heart transplantation service from Glasgow to the Clydebank site.

The service transferred in 2008 and staff from the Golden Jubilee National Hospital, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and NHS Lanarkshire worked together to ensure it went smoothly.  You can browse the Archive for background documents.
