Funding for research training

Opportunities for undertaking research training on a full salary, particularly if you are in a  senior post,  are rare and very competitive. Seek out opportunities from large charities in your clinical area. A comprehensive list can be found on the RCN research webpages. The Association of Medical Research Charities also provides details of charities and what they fund

Studentships are offered by HEIs for topics selected by the academic supervisor. A tax-free stipend, fees and research costs associated with the study such as transcription and travel expenses are provided. This may be a feasible option if you are at an early stage of your career. Check university websites and also watch out for adverts.
