An Athens account is your key to unlocking the 1,000s of print and online journals, books, databases and other resources available via the NHS Scotland Knowledge Network and NHS Scotland's libraries (which can be searched via Library Search). With an Athens account, you can access or request resources from any computer or device, whether you are at work or at home.

Can I use my university Athens account?
Your university Athens account will only give access to university-subscribed material. It cannot be used to access NHSGGC-subscribed resources. Therefore, you also need to register for an NHSGGC Athens account.
I have an Athens account from a different health board. Can I still use this account within NHSGGC?
Your account will not give you access to some NHSGGC on-line resources. Please email your change of details to our Athens Administration Team at [email protected]librarynetwork.zendesk.com to gain full access to NHSGGC resources.
Forgotten your username and password?
If you have forgotten both your username and your password, please email our Athens Administration Team at [email protected]librarynetwork.zendesk.com for a reminder.
I've received an email telling me that my Athens account has expired/is going to expire soon. What do I do?
Email our Athens Administration Team at [email protected]librarynetwork.zendesk.com to have your account updated. Make sure you include your Athens username in your email.
What if I want to change the details that are stored about me on the Athens database?
You can change your Athens password and email address by logging into the MyAthens site and clicking the 'My Account' tab.
If you wish to change any other details, such as your work address, please email our Athens Administration Team at [email protected]librarynetwork.zendesk.com - please do this if you change jobs and your new employer is outside NHSGGC.
