Background to Glasgow Stroke MCN

The Glasgow Stroke Advisory Group(GSAG) evolved in the late 1990s as an interdisciplinary group with representatives from primary care, secondary care and some voluntary groups. GSAG disbanded in December 2003 with many of the members forming the basis of the Glasgow Stroke MCN. In setting up the MCN, Glasgow sought to build on the experience and expertise of people involved in GSAG; the MCN steering group is larger and has more systematic representation of all groups with an interest in stroke, but many former GSAG members are now part of the MCN group.
