The Department of Haematology, Glasgow North Sector NHSGG&C, comprises Core Haematology Laboratory services at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary, Gartnavel General Hospital sites and a satellite laboratory (rapid results service) at Stobhill ACH. Rapid results service for Haematology outpatients at the West Glasgow ACH. Blood Transfusion Laboratory services at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary Site. Cell Markers Testing from the Haemato-Oncology Laboratory at Gartnavel General Hospital. Specialist Coagulation Testing at the Haematology Laboratory at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, In conjunction with the West of Scotland Adult Haemophilia Centre. The Department is fully committed to the provision of a quality laboratory and clinical service and is assessed for compliance to the Blood safety and Quality Regulations 2005 (BSQR) and The Medicines for Human Use (Clinical Trials) Regulations 2004 by the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), for compliance with The Human Tissues Act 2004 by the Human Tissues Authority (HTA) and is accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) to international standard ISO:15189.
In accordance with UKAS guidance publication Lab 1, "Reference to Accreditation for Laboratories," Section 5.1. We choose to inform our users of our accreditation status for ISO:15189 by including a link to our Schedule of Accreditation held on the UKAS website.

The Service User Handbook provides comprehensive information regarding the use and provision of the clinical and laboratory services, including information about the Departmental test repertoire, specimen requirements, assay reference and therapeutic ranges, urgent and emergency requests.
