During March and April 09 eight focus groups took place throughout Greater Glasgow & Clyde. The purpose of the groups was to develop a broad vision for dementia services and identify the support required by people with dementia and their carers, particularly in the early stages of the illness.
The groups included: Isolated Older People, Black and Minority Ethnic Communities, Early Diagnosis and Support, Care at home, Care Homes, Medicine for the Elderly, Younger People with Dementia and User and Carer Experiences.
We would like to thank the commitment of the 122 people who attended the groups, including; people with dementia, carers, medical, nursing, social work and voluntary sector staff.
The groups were facilitated by Quarriers Person Centred Planning Service and sessions ended with clear goals which identified change and development. We would like to thank Rose, Mark and Louise for facilitating the groups.
