CAS - Next Steps ?

Whilst it is acknowledged that each of the four phases are at different stages in the development and implementation of CAS the following actions are planned:

  • Launch of the standards for Phase 1 - Acute Services across the 3 Boards in July 2015 - Completed

  • Consideration of the outcomes from the 4 acute test sites - June 2015 - Completed

  • Development of a Link Person infrastructure which is required at ward level to support CAS implementation -Completed in Adult Acute, Maternity, Neonatal & Paediatric in patient wards 

  • Phases 2-4 ( Maternity, Paediatrics, Mental Health, Adult Nursing and Health Visiting) finalise their standards and begin testing within each of their identified pilot areas - In Progress

  • Network opportunities provided for Senior Charge Nurses/midwives  and Lead Nurses/Midwives from across the 3 Boards who are involved in the CAS test sites to share experiences and learn from one another. Completed

  • The development of a cohesive  CAS Capacity for Improvement Framework which will detail the programme of support available for all levels of staff from across the functions - Organisational Development, Practice Development, Learning and Education and Clinical Effectiveness and Improvement - Framework final draft out for consultation
  • The development of a CAS NHSGGC Implementation Strategy to implement and embed this approach fully within our day-to-day practice and the organisational and professional culture - Completed
  • Develop and test a Tri- Board Assurance Framework -Framework final draft out for consultation
  • Sector /Directorates set up local implementation groups reporting the NHS GGC CAS Steering group - Completed
  • Develop and agree an NHSGGC Corporate standards roll out plan for the adult acute service - Completed
  • Test and refine the Assurance Support Visits process concurrently with the OPAH inspection schedule -Commencing September 2016
  • On completion of Assurance support visit testing phase in Assurance Support Visits - replacing current OPAH inspection schedule - Scheduled for early 2017
