Angela Carlin, Senior Charge Midwife and Supervisor of Midwives
Working within NHSGGC Women and Children's Directorate based at the Southern General Hospital. I am a newly appointed member to the committee and replace Irene Woods, Lead Midwife who has recently retired after being involved for many years with the committee. I am delighted and look forward to representing the midwifery profession as a Supervisor of Midwives on the committee. Supervision is an integral part of midwifery practice its aim is to protect the public through statutory supervision of midwives, to provide support alongside ensuring safe effective practice standards are met whilst simultaneously encouraging midwives to provide a women centred approach to care. All of which reflects the ambitions of the quality agenda within health provision. I see my role on the committee is not only to support and network with my nursing colleagues but also make available to the committee my knowledge and experience as a midwife and to share the values and work of Midwifery Supervision.
