Cllr Alan Lafferty was appointed as Non-Executive Director on 20th June 2012.
Cllr Lafferty has been an Elected Member of East Renfrewshire Council since April 1995 and a Council Cabinet Member since 1999, currently Convener for Social Work & Health and Vice Chair of the East Renfrewshire Health & Social Care Partnership Integrated Joint Board. Previously Convener for Education & Equalities, Convener for Environment with responsibility for Planning, Transport, Housing, Protective Services, Commercial Operations, Personnel and ICT, Convener for Community Services responsible for Community Safety, Community Development, Youth, Sport, Libraries & Parks.
He has been a member of Strathclyde Joint Police Board; Strathclyde Fire Board; Strathclyde Passenger Transport Authority; Strathclyde Partnership for Transport; Convention of Scottish Local Authorities; Fire Services Examination Board; Director, Learning & Business Partnership Ltd, Chairman, Renfrewshire Careers Partnership Ltd; and a Public Member of Network Rail.
He graduated with a BSc(Econ) in Government as an external student of London University at Glasgow College of Technology with a sabbatical year as President of the Students Association and obtained a post graduate Diploma in Social Work from the University of Glasgow. He is retired after 38 years in social work and residential child care in Glasgow, Renfrewshire and South Lanarkshire.
