Public information day detailing proposals to sell surplus land at Dykebar Hospital re-arranged

Monday, March 5, 2018

The board has re-arranged the date of an information day for staff, patients and the public to Thursday, outlining proposals around the sale of surplus land at Dykebar Hospital.

The event will be held in the hospital’s administration block on Thursday, 08 March and will run between noon-7pm with staff available to explain the proposals.

The previous information day was due to be held on Thursday, 01 March, but was rescheduled in response to the severe weather conditions and subsequent red and amber weather warnings regarding travel.

Following the marketing of the spare land and vacant buildings, a consortium of national house builders has been selected as the preferred bidder to deliver a residential development.

Mary Anne Kane, interim director of Property, Procurement and Facilities Management, said: “The proposals will not affect the existing clinical and administrative functions located at Dykebar hospital.

“I’d encourage as many people as possible to attend the information day to learn more about why we are selling this surplus land and hear about what is proposed for the site.

“The money achieved from the sale of surplus land is directly reinvested into front line services.”

Staff, patients and local people interested in attending the information day are welcome to drop in to the administration block where NHSGGC staff and advisors will be on hand to explain the future proposals.

The house builders will undertake public consultation on their detailed plans in advance of any planning application being submitted.
