New Eastwood Health and Care Centre Wins Another National Award

Friday, November 3, 2017

The new Eastwood Health and Care Centre, which opened last summer, has scooped another prestigious design award at this year’s Building Better Healthcare Awards.

The £15m state of the art building won the Best Primary Care Facility Award and beat off stiff competition from healthcare facilities across the UK.

This is the third national award the centre has won this year.  The first accolade came at the European Healthcare Award where the centre won a design award for buildings under 25,000 sq feet.  The centre also picked up one of the main awards from the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS).

The Health and Care Centre was officially opened by the Minister for Public Health and Sport, Aileen Campbell last October and houses many social care services and provides space for voluntary groups of all kinds.

David Loudon, Director of Property, Procurement & Facilities Management said: “We are delighted that Eastwood Health & Care Centre has won another major award.  The project represents the best of architectural design to deliver a brief that was based upon service improvement, integration and new ways of working.

“Eastwood was developed as the Reference Design for Primary Care Centres in Scotland, and the award is another endorsement of its approach and quality. Whilst these awards are fantastic for the team who worked on bringing the building to life, more importantly is the feedback from users and staff which has been fantastic.”

Julie Murray, Director of East Renfrewshire Health and Social Care Partnership said: “This award is testament to the strategic vision and planning that went into Eastwood Health and Care Centre.  To have the building celebrated by both health and architecture professionals is wonderful and we are truly honoured to receive this award.

“Eastwood Health and Care Centre is a fantastic state-of-the-art facility that offers our community of Eastwood both health and social care services under the one roof for the first time, as well as a wonderful well-used space for community groups.  We look forward to many more years in this inspiring space.”
